OUR AIM

It is our aim to ensure that all pupils can be provided with a healthy, nutritious meal and that vegetarians and those on special diets are also catered for.

Monmouthshire County Council is continuing to work with local suppliers and national manufacturers to provide a healthy, nutritious meal for the young adults of the future.

OUR NEW MENU

Following the completion of our successful Healthy School Meals Pilot Project in eight of our primary schools, we are pleased to announce that a healthy menu is to be rolled out across all primary schools from September 2007.

The new healthy menu is a significant step towards the proposals in the consultation document, ‘Appetite for Life’, which has been approved by the Welsh Assembly Government.

Take a look for youself at the new menu by clicking on the links below:

SO WHAT'S NEW?

We have made the following changes to our menu:
  • We only use fresh, seasonal vegetables, sourced locally when available.

  • We use fresh joints of meat sourced from Monmouthshire farms.

  • A variety of fresh fruit is available daily.

  • Only fish fillet products are served.

  • Desserts are made on-site daily.

  • No added salt.
