The Lifeline is a special telephone alarm unit, which plugs into your telephone line. It does not interfere with the operation of your telephone in any way. You will need to have modem BT telephone socket and an electrical socket that takes standard square pin plugs, these should be within 10 ft of each other.
The unit has a large red button for emergency calls. It also comes complete with a pendant, which should be worn at all times during the day. When you are in bed, you should keep the pendant within easy reach. Pressing the button on the unit or activating the pendant puts out a call for help. Lifeline units have sensitive microphones and powerful loudspeakers to enable you to be heard wherever you are in the house.
Who answers the call?
When you activate the alarm, the unit automatically dials a monitoring centre where help is on hand at all times. The Centre is situated in Coleford in the Forest of Dean. Friendly staff are trained to respond promptly to your calls and to take whatever action is needed. When your Lifeline is fitted details will be taken of your doctor, any illness you suffer and your next of kin. This information is then entered onto a computer.
