Renewal of Vows

What is the Renewal of vows ceremony?

This ceremony is for any couple that wish to celebrate renewing their marriage vows or civil partnership in a unique and personal ceremony.  Often these ceremonies are associated with a special anniversary but it may be relevant to those couples who married abroad or partners who wish to celebrate their renewed commitment to each other.

Where do renewal of vows take place?

Ceremonies may be held at the Register Office, High Trees or any of the approved venues throughout Monmouthshire.

Can any couple take part in the ceremony?

Any couple of any age can arrange a ceremony.  You do not need to live in the area where you want to arrange your ceremony.

Is there a charge for the ceremony?

A fee is payable for the attendance of the celebrant at the ceremony.

Naming Ceremony

Monmouthshire offers naming ceremonies as a non-religious alternative to baptisms for families celebrating the birth of a new baby or welcoming  adoptive children and step – children into a new family.

Any parent can arrange a ceremony, whether married or not and can be arranged to follow a marriage or partnership ceremony.

Why do we have a naming ceremony?

It is a chance to gather family and friends to welcome a child or children into the wider community.  Announce the names that they have been given and maybe the reasons for the choices and to make promise of commitment to the child.

Where do ceremonies take place?

Ceremonies may be held at the Register Office, High Trees or any of the approved venues throughout Monmouthshire.

Is there a charge for the ceremony?

A fee is payable for the attendance of the celebrant at the ceremony.
