Monmouthshire County Council has celebrated twelve months of its online app with a free draw offering fantastic prizes.  Residents signing to or downloading the council’s My Monmouthshire app in late October were offered the opportunity to enter the ‘Appy’ Birthday Quiz, putting them in line to win an iPad, five pairs of tickets to Caldicot Castle’s fireworks display, a free MoT at the council’s Raglan Depot, a car parking voucher, gym membership and a green waste permit.

Since the My Monmouthshire launch in October 2016 residents have downloaded, signed and registered via an app store or the council’s website to put them in direct touch with a wide range of council functions.

My Monmouthshire can be used to pay for a service, report a problem and access information on a variety of topics.  It has been welcomed by residents across the county.

Caldicot’s Janice Morgan, winner of the iPad said: “I was thrilled to win the iPad because my elderly version is going through its death throes. The new one will help me access my emails, aid my research and ensure I keep in touch with family and friends through social media.

“Over the past twelve months I have found the My Monmouthshire app useful to find out about local activities, how to renew my bus pass and to check on bus timetables. It is good to know that through the app, I can also look at planning applications and raise an objection should it become necessary.”

Councillor Phil Murphy, Monmouthshire’s cabinet member for resources said: “I’m very pleased that so many residents have signed up to the app.  The ability to tap into services from phone or tablet demonstrates our willingness to connect with our residents.  Over 29,000 residents have already signed up and I’m confident this number will increase significantly in the future.”

Residents wishing to sign up to the My Monmouthshire app should log on to: or download from their mobile phone app store.
