Monmouth’s community hub staff are coordinating a festive plan to ensure that families in the town facing hardship over Christmas receive a festive hamper.

Liaising with the REACH Supported Living organisation and Welsh homeless charity Llamau, community hub staff discussed ways to respond to the need and will distribute eight large parcels within the town containing essentials and a few goodies too.  The food is supplied from the town’s foodbank.  In addition, the hub will make available three hampers for emergency callers.

County Councillor Bob Greenland, Monmouthshire’s cabinet member with responsibility for community hubs said: “I applaud this approach by the hub staff to work with other agencies.  It demonstrates what can be achieved by goodwill through partnership working and illustrates that no one should be excluded from the spirit and joy of Christmas in Monmouthshire.”

Cheryl Haskell, Community Hub Manager added: “I’m delighted at the initiative shown by staff in Monmouth Community Hub and also the joint working that has led to this. It will have a great benefit to the community at what can be a difficult time of the year for some.”
